From a young age, I had taken naturally to sports and in particular the gym. It is this fascination with how the human body moves, and how to fine-tune it to perform at the highest levels, that lead me to complete a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Edith Cowan University in 2020. An injury lay-off would set off a rekindled passion and a reason to pursue unfinished business, when I returned to complete a Bachelor of Exercise Science and Rehabilitation in 2023.
It saw my focus shift towards those for whom moving was more of a challenge, and those who needed more help returning to the activities they loved. In the following years, I have been reminded just how important it is that we make the time to move, and that we do what we can, while we can. For it is often when we lose the ability to move pain-free and unhindered, that we realise what we had taken for granted.
When I am not at work, I can be found at the gym, watching reruns of Frasier or planning my next big hike.
